Bolloré Logistics has expanded in Scandinavia by acquiring a majority stake in Swedish freight forwarder Global Freight Solutions and its Finnish affiliate. Better known as G Solutions, this company provides a wide range of freight services and specializes in the northern markets and project logistics.

For Bolloré Logistics the acquisition is a strategic one, complementing previous similar acquisitions in Norway and Denmark. The company bought a majority stake in Danish freight forwarder Global Solutions in January 2018.

Established in 2006, G Solutions is headquartered in Gothenburg, with additional offices in Stockholm and Helsinki. The company employs 44 people and provides a wide range of transport services including ro/ro, breakbulk and project cargo transports. “Project logistics is our speciality and we pride ourselves on solving what seems to be an unsolvable transport”, the company states. In addition, the company also acts as agency for X-Press Feeders, Transatlantic Feeders and Samskip.

With the acquisition, Bolloré Logistics has gained a stronger foothold in Sweden, what it describes as “an export-driven industrial powerhouse.” At the same time, the office in Finland “matches perfectly” with many of Bolloré’s industry verticals such as mining, power, automotive, aeronautics and defence, telecom, hi-tech, healthcare and retail.

Growth

“As the deal neared completion, we have already been working together under a partnership arrangement. This delivered many commercial opportunities such as coupling up with the company’s industrial projects division and to offer Swedish exporters new logistics solutions into the African, Middle East and Asian markets. I know our clients and network colleagues will welcome this development”, says Henri Le Gouis, CEO Europe of Bolloré Logistics.

“With access to Bolloré Logistics’ systems, expertise and strategic carrier alliances I believe we will contribute very strongly to its growth in the region. In the challenging times of Covid-19, we are already extending the company’s charter options and bespoke industry solutions across the full range of clients in our region. Whether it be China, the Americas or our unparalleled reach in Africa, we are seeing immediate synergies between our local client relationships and the power and scope of solutions that only a major player can provide”, managing director Johan Moerth of G Solutions.

Following this agreement, Bolloré’s network now comprises 25,000 employees divided over 600 offices in 109 countries.
