12000 tons of barges and multi-cats leave China for Rotterdam

The Rotterdam-based project-management company Tresios engineered the transportation of 9 Barges and three multi-cats. This cargo, with a total weight exceeding 12000 tons, left the port of Nantong for Rotterdam on September 8th, and is scheduled to arrive in Singapore on the 21st.

Tresios’ team calculated the required structures and equipment using FEA models, for safe and efficient lifting, sea-fastening, and positioning of the cargo vessels in three stacks. The project took eight weeks.

The cargo was transported aboard the heavy load carrier, Bigroll Beaufort, which sails under the Dutch flag. With a length of 173 metres and a width of 42 metres, the vessel has a gross tonnage of 23134 metric tonnes.

Tresios coordinated between involved parties including the client, shipyards, transportation vessel management team and local subcontractors for vessel preparation. The project documentation was reviewed and approved by the Shanghai based Engineering consultant DNV China. This included transportation analyses, vessel motion analyses, procedures, lift plans and drawing packages for sea fastening and lifting.
