Over the past days a number of companies have made appointments, strengthening their management positions, making changes and bringing in new names. Among the companies that have made changes are specialist logistics provider Osprey Group, shipper Hapag-Lloyd and logistics and shipping company, F.H. Bertling Logistics, a specialist in handling complex project freight forwarding.

Alan Faulds joins Osprey Group

Osprey Group has continued to expand its operations with Alan Faulds now working as a Senior Project Manager for the business. Alan has worked internationally in senior positions for many years.

“It’s struck me that the wellbeing of the workforce is first and foremost in the minds of the Senior Leadership Team, and that makes such a difference on site. We have a highly motivated, valued team. The growth and respect we’re experiencing is no accident,” Faulds said.

In his role supporting clients in the nuclear industry with early contractor engagement, Alan is advancing the work currently being shown by Osprey’s nuclear team.

“As an approach, early contractor engagement delivers so much value into any project – it’s really only by talking to technical specialists who understand where to find savings without cutting corners later in the programme, that you can build in efficiencies with confidence up front,” he said.

By saving time and money through solution-based thinking, Osprey contributes to a more sustainable future for not only for EDF, but the UK nuclear energy sector as whole. “With every new project, we’re accruing the priceless cross-sector insights that nurture innovation. I enjoy lending my knowledge and experience to other aspects of the business to support that journey. With a team of very intelligent and motivated individuals who perform as a great team, I look forward to what the future holds,” Faulds said.

Hapag-Lloyd appoints new President for North America

Shipping giant, Hapag-Lloyd, noted that Stuart Sandlin will replace Uffe Ostergaard as President of Region North America. Sandlin, who is currently Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales for the United States, will assume his new position on January 1, 2023, while Ostergaard will take over another management position outside of Hapag-Lloyd in the United States.

Sandlin can already look back on a long career at Hapag-Lloyd. After joining the company in 2001 as Sales Executive in Atlanta, Georgia, he has held several management positions in the US and Germany. In 2015, he left Hapag-Lloyd to become President North America for the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC). When Hapag-Lloyd acquired UASC in 2017, Stuart returned to the company and assumed his current position as SVP Area United States.

“We are very pleased that Stuart, who is an outstanding logistics professional, will be succeeding Uffe. With Stuart’s leadership experience and his vast commercial understanding, we will have a strong foundation for managing one of our most traditional key markets, but also for further growth in North America,” said Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd.

Uffe Ostergaard worked at Maersk for 20 years, serving as Group Head for Global Marketing from 1992 until 2012. In 2013, he joined the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), where he served as Chief Commercial Officer until 2017. Following the merger of Hapag-Lloyd and UASC, he became President of Hapag-Lloyd’s Region North America on 1 April 2018.

“Uffe has made an enormous contribution to Hapag-Lloyd,” Habben Jansen said. “We thank him for his passionate work for our company – not least for completing the consolidation of our USA-based operations in Atlanta. We wish him the very best and lots of success in his new role.”
