Northern Stevedoring Services (NSS) called upon the services of Spliethoff P8-Type multipurpose vessel Prinsengracht to move a Liebherr LHM 420 Mobile Harbour Crane from Townsville to Gladstone.

This relocation was performed in-house by the NSS team with help from Australian Independent Shipbrokers, the company said. A behemoth of a crane, the Liebherr LHM 420 weighs in at approximately 370 tonnes, has a maximum lift capacity of 124 tonnes and a maximum outreach of 48 metres.

“The relocation of this crane evidences NSS’s commitment to supporting and delivering major projects across Queensland,” said NSS General Manager, Mark George.

“Within just days of its arrival into Gladstone, this crane will be put through its paces working on Clarke Creek Wind Farm vessels as well as a number of key energy, heavy industry and mining related projects,” George said. “This crane significantly increases the Gladstone and regional Central Queensland’s capabilities and we hope that its proves to be a catalyst for international trade and opportunities moving forward.”

NSS is regional Queensland’s largest supply chain management provider with assets that include the most comprehensive end to end stevedoring, transport and logistics services for ocean going cargoes in regional Queensland.
