Jumbo Maritime’s DP2 heavy lift crane vessel, Fairplayer, has been kept busy recently, loading and carrying multiple cargoes to Africa.

Jumbo Maritime, part of the Jumbo-SAL-Alliance, said that the commercial teams have shown strength in unity, fixing multiple client cargoes for the vessel all heading to a number of ports in Africa. MV Fairplayer was first on hand to complete an offshore assignment and after demobilisation and conversion to shipping mode in Rotterdam, the vessel headed straight to load several general cargoes and power plant equipment below deck, as well as a barge on deck.

The barge, weighing approximately 940 tonnes was previously an inland vessel before it was newly converted by Concordia Damen to the inland trailing-suction hopper dredger Sayonara. Proactive cooperation between both engineering teams ensured a safe and efficient lift.

Once the barge was loaded in Vlissingen, the team sailed to Cherbourg to load a crew boat, and now the vessel is on its way to St. Nazaire to load an engine and some ancillaries before heading to discharge ports in Benin, Nigeria, Angola and Richards Bay, South Africa.
