Photo of the Week: 333-tonne transformer discharge
Each week, Project Cargo Journal will be sharing one photograph, showcasing industry activity. This week’s photograph is courtesy of Port of Dover Cargo Terminal.
During last week, the team at Port of Dover Cargo Terminal discharged a 333-tonne transformer from a Ro-Ro vessel. The operation required teamwork and expertise of the terminal’s engineering and cargo operation team.

“To ensure a successful discharge process, we worked with Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs). These specialised, multi-axle trailers are designed to handle the weight and size of heavy loads. The Ro-Ro vessel allowed for the smooth transition of the transformer from the ship onto the SPMTs, which then transported the cargo to its designated location,” the terminal company noted.
