A bit more than a year after it got back into action, following its upgrade, Rotra Vente, the tailor-made transportation vessel with a special roll-on/roll-off function, has completed deliveries for the Hollandse Kust Noord (HKN) project.

Amasus said that the vessel completed its last voyage to Eemshaven with wind turbine components. During the last months, the Rotra Vente has transported a total of 59 nacelles and 155 tower sections from Cuxhaven and Esbjerg to the HKN assembly port Eemshaven.

Amasus added that the vessels will return to Eemshaven in September to demobilise some of the project equipment.

A new generation of Rotra vessels is ready

Rotra Vente was modified at Holland Shipyards Group facilities at Hardinxveld-Giessendam. The Rotra Vente now has a new overall width of 23.6 meters, which enables it to transport seven new 11-megawatt Siemens Gamesa nacelles. Also, its characteristic cover or the garage has been removed and pontoons have been welded to the vessel.

Rotra Vente and its sister vessel Rotra Mare have been moving offshore wind components for Siemens Gamesa. Soon, the two vessels will be joined by a new generation. Partners deugro Danmark, Siemens Gamesa and Amasus will bring the newly designed pair of vessels soon into service. Customised for transporting offshore wind turbine components, Rotra Futura and Rotra Horizon, ordered at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China, are scheduled for delivery in 2025.

Siemens Gamesa and deugro have entered into a long-term charter agreement for these newbuild vessels.
