The recruiting market is as active as ever with some new appointments made by the likes of Sallaum Lines, LV Logistics and a. hartrodt.

Bilal Sallaum has been appointed as the CBO of Sallaum Lines Switzerland, Raymond Riemen will join Royal Dutch LV Logistics in the Netherlands as managing director for the countries of the European Union while a. hartrodt Portugal in Porto has a female Managing Director in Sandra Pereira.

Bilal Sallaum becomes CBO of Sallaum Lines Switzerland

Sallaum Lines has appointed Bilal Sallaum as the Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Sallaum Lines Switzerland. Since 2021, Bilal has played a pivotal role as the Head of Strategy & Business Development at Sallaum Lines. He has been instrumental in developing and executing the company’s overarching business strategies and has been a driving force behind all facets of business development, according to the company.

In his newly designated role as CBO, Bilal will spearhead the development and execution of extensive strategies designed to propel the company’s business growth forward.

Beyond steering the company through market developments, Bilal’s role will also include the oversight of IT, marketing, and sustainability functions, aligning them with the company’s overall vision and objectives. He will work closely with the CEO and other C-suite executives to establish and implement forward-thinking business strategies that align with the company’s objectives.

LV Logistics name Managing Director EU

Raymond Riemen is set to join Royal Dutch LV Logistics in the Netherlands as managing director for the countries of the European Union from October 9.

Riemen has a broad background in logistics services and supply chain management. Among other things, he was previously CEO of Broekman Logistics for 22 years and was once named ‘port man of the year’ in his hometown Rotterdam.

In his new role, Riemen will lead LV Logistics in the Netherlands. He will also be responsible for the further growth of the organisation within the European Union.

With Raymond Riemen as the new managing director for the European Union, LV Logistics hopes to accelerate further growth, according to Mark van Herk, CEO of LV Logistics Group.

a.hartrodt names new Managing Director in Portugal

Since August 1, 2023, a. hartrodt Portugal in Porto has a female Managing Director in Sandra Pereira. The 43-year-old has profound market knowledge and has worked as Director Sales and Business Development in the family-owned company for nine years. She gained sales experience with various freight forwarders and shipping agents.

She succeeds Carlos Ferreira, who has managed a. hartrodt’s Portuguese company since its foundation in 2014. As part of a joint, wise succession planning, Carlos Ferreira will retain his position on the Board of a. hartrodt Portugal as Regional Sales Manager for the Mediterranean and Southern Africa region (Med/Africa Region).

Pereira has the task of pursuing a clear growth strategy which consists of diversifying the company’s business areas. Key on her agenda is the establishment of an air freight division – for which a. hartrodt will open an office in Lisbon at the end of October.

In addition, the international freight forwarder intends to expand its warehouse and logistics division for various segments of commodities on a 33,000-square-meter plot of land in the Porto region and build a suitable facility.

As Regional Sales Manager, Carlos Ferreira will focus on a. hartrodt expansion in the Med/Africa Region with further locations in Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey and South Africa.

As a unique selling point in sea freight, he highlights direct consolidation services for all Mediterranean country organizations via the company’s own Med hub in Genoa (Italy) to Australia or via the Hong Kong hub to mainland China. Investments have been made in sales personnel in Greece, Italy, Portugal and South Africa. In addition, South Africa is recording important intra-African growth.
