BigLift Shipping’s Happy Buccaneer has completed another delivery that is both complex and stunning to look at. The vessel delivered four new Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) to the London Gateway.

The delivery, according to BigLift Shipping has been part of DP World’s investment in vital infrastructure across the UK’s supply chain. The ASCs, supplied by Finnish manufacturer Konecranes, represent a significant step in streamlining operations at London Gateway.

Special software is being developed to integrate the new ASCs with the existing crane fleet to ensure high levels of productivity and a seamless experience for customers. The ASCs will transfer containers from the port yard to lorries bound for consumer markets across the country. They will serve the new £350m all-electric fourth berth – the first of its kind in the world – which will increase capacity at the logistics hub by a third when it opens next year.

BigLift Shipping have delivered the first eight ASCs and will be delivering the next ten in early 2024.
