Longship Group has partnered with Wagle Chartering on a joint newbuilding project involving two freighters. The GS Eco-Freighter 3700 ships will be constructed by GS Yard BV in Waterhuizen. The order is part of Longship’s efforts to renew and optimise its fleet.

These low-consuming general cargo vessels feature single open-top box-shaped holds with an intake capacity of about 181,000 cubic feet. Additionally, they are equipped with two bulkheads that can function as tweendecks and are designed for carrying grain, timber, and project cargo. The ships are powered by an IMO Tier III compliant Mitsubishi S12R engine with an output of 749 kW.

This eco-friendly design aligns with Longship Group’s commitment to significantly reduce its environmental impact and carbon footprint. Wagle Chartering will handle the commercial operation of the vessels, while Longship Management will oversee their technical and crew management.

The Dutch-flagged freighters, named Lngsun and Longsky, are expected to enter service in the second quarter of this year.
