dship Carriers have put pen to paper on a contract for the construction of four D500 multipurpose (MPP) vessels, introducing the next generation of the 15,000 dwt class. The company also said the construction contract paves the way for NextGeneration Maritime Transport.

The four D500 heavy-lift MPPs represent a leap forward in innovation, according to the company. The project emphasizes efficiency and performance. These vessels boast a significant reduction in fuel consumption, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.

With approximately 50 per cent more cargo hold and deck capacity, the D500 vessels further enhance dship Carriers’ competitive edge and cater to evolving client needs, the company said.

“I am immensely proud of the team’s collective effort, with special recognition for our exceptional engineering and project team. Their dedication and technical expertise were instrumental in shaping the vessels to meet the highest standards,” said Lars Feller, CEO at dship Carriers. “This project showcases what can be achieved when expertise and vision come together.”

Construction is set to commence shortly, with delivery expected in 2025, reinforcing dship Carriers’ commitment to driving positive change in maritime transport. Furthermore, according to the press photo, the contract includes two options for two additional vessels each, bringing the potential order to a total of eight vessels.
