MSC announces upcoming air cargo unit

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced that they are developing MSC Air Cargo, which will be available from early 2023 onwards, once the first of four MSC-branded Boeing 777-200F aircraft are delivered.

The aircrafts will be operated by Atlas Air and will fly key trade lanes and various industries, which have significant air cargo transportation needs. Jannie Davel will be heading MSC’s new foray and building the MSC Air Cargo team.

Jannie Davel has three decades of experience in the air cargo industry and has worked for Delta Cargo in various positions including Vice President of Global RFQ Management, VP of Global Airfreight Product Development, and SVP Airfreight Americas & USA Head of Airfreight. He has also worked for Emirates SkyCargo as Vice President of Cargo Commercial Operation Americas. Most recently, he worked as Managing Director of Commercial for Delta Cargo based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Soren Toft, MSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) stated: “We are delighted to announce the development of MSC Air Cargo and to welcome Jannie Davel to spearhead this exciting new offering for MSC clients. This is our first step into this market and we plan to continue exploring various avenues to develop air cargo in a way that complements our core business of ocean container shipping.”
