Freight forwarding and project logistics specialist deugro group has expanded its focus on renewable energy by establishing a dedicated Sustainable Energy team and appointing Rasmus Jørgensen as vice president global business development – renewable energy. Appointment is effective October 1, the company said in its statement.

Rasmus Jørgensen has 14 years’ experience in the offshore energy industry and will work closely with the global deugro group Sustainable Energy team to develop the strategic business opportunities in the offshore energy sector. Investments in offshore energy sector are planned to top $173 trillion by 2050, the company said in its statement.

“I’m excited to be joining deugro group at this point in time. The renewable energy industry is evolving at a rapid pace and requiring investment and new innovative solutions to be able to meet climate goals whilst maintaining a declining Levelized Cost Of Energy (LCOE),” said Jørgensen.

The establishment of a dedicated sustainable energy team and appointment of Rasmus Jørgensen follows a number of similar decisions taken in the previous months. Tied directly to the renewables sector was deugro’s appointment of Christian Schulz as vice president – global business development – thermal power & renewables. The decision is, like the appointment of Jørgensen, effective since October 1.

This was soon followed by the company’s expansion in Brazil with the opening of a third office in Belo Horizonte.
