Conoship and Kenzfigee design breakbulk transshipment barge

Ship designer Conoship International and crane specialist KenzFigee have joined forces to design a cost-efficient crane barge combination for the transhipment of dry and breakbulk cargoes.

The transhipment barge provides an efficient vessel for worldwide operation in harbours, inland and coastal waters, the companies state. The tailor-made design ensures 360-degree visibility from the office/control room amidships, guarantees easy access for maintenance of all equipment and structural items, and provides modern living quarters and workspaces.

The barge can be equipped with a choice of two different KenzFigee high capacity heavy-duty cranes, specially designed for floating applications: the Lemniscate crane, which is particularly suitable for high volumes, or the recently designed Bulkbuster derrick crane, which is said to be more cost-effective. The barge can operate in wave heights of up to 2 meters in coastal conditions.

“Through this collaboration, we are able to offer clients an efficient, cost-effective and safe transhipment solution with the right balance between operational and capital costs. In addition, clients will have the convenience of just one point of contact during the construction process”, says CEO Jan-Pieter Klaver of KenzFigee.
