UTC Overseas delivers 880,000-pound Mantsinen machine

Mantsinen partnered with UTC Overseas, BBC Chartering, and SMH Group-US to deliver a Mantsinen 300 rubber tire gantry machine fully assembled and tested from the Port of Rauma in Finland to Jacksonville, Florida’s Keystone Terminals.

Measuring 13,1 metres in length (43 feet tall), and weighing 400,000 kilograms (882,000 pounds), this is the “first machine of this size to come to the Americas” according to Tim Hyland, vice-president of material handling for Linder Machinery. The machine was also shipped in one piece, signifying there was no assembly needed on arrival and the machine was put to work the next day.

The machine was shipped 9382,476 kilometres (5830 miles) from Finland to the United States in one piece, aboard the BBC Chartering Vessel’s BBC Aquamarine general cargo ship. With a length of 153.47 metres and a breadth of 23.45 metres, the vessel has a gross tonnage of 12,838 metric tonnes.
