BigLift Shipping delivered three new ship unloaders to Jurong Port, Singapore’s main general and bulk cargo gateway. These ship unloaders were manufactured by Siwertell, based out of Gunnarstorp, Sweden.

The first shipment of cranes arrived in Singapore in February 2022 aboard BigLift’s general cargo ship, the Happy Diamond. The Happy Diamond has a gross tonnage of 14784 tonnes, a length of 157 metres, and a beam of 26 metres. The second shipment of Siwertell ship unloaders arrived in Singapore in August 2022, aboard the heavy load carrier, Happy Dover. With a gross tonnage of 14784 metric tonnes, the Happy Dover measures 156.93 metres in length and 25.6 metres in width.

The trio of new ship unloaders will join existing Siwertell technology in the Port of Jurong. The three Siwertell continuous ST 490-F screw-type unloaders were then rail-mounted. They are capable of unloading two 40,000 dwt ships simultaneously. Together these unloaders will ensure the handling of Singapore’s cement imports, in a manner compatible with Singapore’s strict environmental requirements.

Jurong Port’s multipurpose port operating expertise includes efficient handling of general, bulk and containerised cargo. The port already disposes of several models of Siwertell ship-unloaders including screw-type unloaders, as well as Siwertell ST-490 F with reach extender.
