The Bucharest-based branch of the Italian Tosto Group, Walter Tosto WTB (WTB), handled the shipment of the secondary reformer, used in chemical plants.

The secondary reformer measured 25 metres in length by 7 metres in height and weighs over 340 tons. The plant was shipped from the port of Oltenita, one of Romania’s largest river ports, located on the Danube River, southeast of Bucharest, by the Bulgarian border. The reformer will be installed in a methanol plant in Malaysia. There, it will be used in the process of converting natural gas into methanol.

The secondary reformer was manufactured for the French multinational, Air Liquide, a major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor holding important licences for petrochemical plant technologies. Air Liquide selected Walter Tosto in 2015 to supply the most critical equipment of the plant: water-cooled methanol reactors, a steam drum and a secondary reformer.
