Brouwersgracht, Spliethoff’s recently christened multipurpose DP2 B-type vessel, has already departed for its first deployment. According to the AIS data, the vessel is currently moored at the port of Mukran. However, prior to its deployment, the vessel received its pipe handling gantry crane, developed by KenzFigee.

The removable, tailor-made and automated pipe handling gantry cranes are, in close collaboration with Spliethoff, specially developed and designed by KenzFigee to enable a fast, safe and efficient loading and discharging operation of pipes both on- and offshore.

The pipe handling gantry cranes are designed to move pipes from a pipe handling platform to a position in the cargo hold and vice versa. Each crane has a SWL capacity of 135 tons. The length of the crane is adjustable for handling single or double joint pipe lengths and able to handle multiple pipe dimensions.

The gantry cranes have been delivered to both Brouwersgracht and Bloemgracht, that is being built.

DP2 B-Type MPPs

During the Brouwersgracht christening ceremony, the company stressed the uniqueness of its vessel, the first in the series. The DP2 B-type vessels combine the capabilities of an ice-strengthened multipurpose vessel and a deadweight of some 12.500 mton, with a superior DP2 system, which makes them eminently suitable for offshore delivery of large volumes and weights of cargo.

For fast, safe and efficient loading and unloading of pipes, the vessels have been equipped with a dedicated automated crane system, specially developed for these cargoes. Furthermore, the vessels, sailing under Dutch flag, are equipped with two Huisman 500 mt Heavy Lift Mast cranes, which makes them excellently suited for the transportation of heavy cargoes.
