Jumbo and Van Oord cooperation continues as Baltic Eagle deal is agreed
Jumbo Offshore, a Jumbo Maritime company, has continued its cooperation with Van Oord. Following cooperation on the Arkona offshore wind farm, the company has now again been awarded a contract to transport and install transition pieces for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea.
Due to extensive cooperation and experience between Jumbo Offshore and Van Oord, operations for the project that will kick off in October have been efficient.
Under the contract, Jumbo Offshore will be responsible for the transportation and installation (T&I) of transition pieces from the marshalling yard to the offshore wind farm site.
“To date, Jumbo Offshore has transported and installed over 400 transition pieces with our DP2 heavy lift vessels,” says Brian Boutkan, Manager Commerce at Jumbo Offshore. “After working together on the Arkona offshore wind farm, we are looking forward to working for Van Oord again. This project award shows the continuation of our focus in the offshore wind industry with our efficient T&I solutions as well as the trust of our clients in our capabilities and equipment.”
Baltic Eagle wind farm
Baltic Eagle is a 476-megawatt offshore wind farm being built by Iberdrola in waters of the Baltic Sea, some 28 km off the north-east coast of the German island of Rügen, in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. The wind farm covers an area of 40 km2 and is the second offshore wind initiative for Iberdrola in Germany.
With a total investment of over 1.1 billion euros, commissioning is expected for the first quarter of 2024.
