ALS transports drilling rig in 121 packages

PRESS RELEASE – Abnormal Load Sevices (ALS) has transported a drilling rig in 121 packages totalling a volume of 6,750 cubic meters and 1,705 tonnes. Despite Covid-19, the company was able to deliver the cargo from Romania to Israel.

The project was organised through the company’s office in Moerdijk in the Netherlands. Planning for the project started pre Covid-19 restrictions in February 2020 and the movement was originally scheduled to move in April/ May. However, due to the pandemic and the related restrictions, the shipper decided to postpone the shipment until further notice.

In September, when the virus seemed to be a little more under control, the ALS team restarted negotiations in preparation for the project. The following month the rig was loaded with assistance from ALS’ local partner, who oversaw operations in Romania. ALS chartered a full vessel from Romania to Israel to carry the 6,750 cbm of cargo on board.

The three largest pieces of the 121 packages measured 16 metres long and 4 metres wide and weighed 48 tonnes. All cargo has now been discharged safely in Israel.
