Ahlers invests EUR 13 million in St. Petersburg expansion

PRESS RELEASE – Ahlers is investing EUR 13.2 million in new warehousing facilities at the company’s site in St. Petersburg, Russia. The expansion will allow Ahlers to meet the increasing demand in a booming e-commerce market and supporting its customers with same-day deliveries.

The construction project consists of an A-class warehouse of 21,000 m2, corresponding to 33,000 new pallet positions on top of the 60,000 already existing positions. This adds 50% to Ahler’s total St. Petersburg warehousing footprint, excluding another 5,000 extra pallet positions under the canopies and 15,000 m² outside space.

Investment into narrow aisle racking will maximize space and optimize the new warehouse for enhanced efficiency and a streamlined picking process. Ahlers says it keeps pursuing innovations to better meet the needs of its customers, who now especially, face complex supply chain challenges.

This latest expansion strengthens Ahlers’ strategy in Russia and the CIS region and adds to the company’s other warehouses in the region which are located in Moscow, Chelyabinsk and Novosibirsk.

“Since starting our activities in Saint Petersburg in 1993, Ahlers continued to grow steadily. Our customers are looking for quality services and specific market expertise. To keep meeting their demands, we needed additional warehousing space”, says Stefan Van Doorslaer, CEO, Groupe Ahlers.
