Bolloré Logistics ships 1,558 pipes to Cambodia
Bolloré Logistics Cambodia delivered 1,558 pipes, steel fittings, and other accessories, all manufactured in Saint-Gobain PAM Canalization’s French plants. The delivery was completed within a 55-day period from Sihanoukville port to the final sites in Phnom Penh.
A dedicated team has been put in place to manage, supervise and execute the transport plans. Due to the nature of the shipment, planning and finetuning of the details has been established over more than a month with close collaboration of our operations team and truckers.
Bolloré Logistics Cambodia provided the client with a customisable yard and warehouse storage solution – the most suitable solution due to the shipment’s variation in size and weight. Although the shipment did not require any special storage conditions, the storage of the tubes proved to be one of the major challenges of the project. Indeed, the tubes in large quantities and of different diameters (up to 2 meters) could overturn, they could not be placed directly on the ground at the risk of being damaged.
To keep the pipes securely in place, a wooden dunnage has been put in place to store them. The 1,500 tubes were thus received, stored and delivered in complete safety.
Bolloré handles port operations
At the yard, Bolloré logistics experts took care of the loading and unloading of goods using specialised equipment such as cranes on land.
More than ten 40-inch trailers were scheduled daily for inland transportation of the cargoes from the port to the final sites. U-shaped frames were employed to secure the pipes into the trailers and prevent rolling. The project was completed five days ahead of schedule allowing the client to save on storage and trucking.
