DHL Global Forwarding had to think quick in order to facilitate a shipment of four Azimuth thrusters for a client. Faced with vessel cancellations, the client approached DHL to perform the shipment on a short notice.

The four propulsion units were scheduled for repair and had to be transported from Mexico to Texas in the United States, and back to Mexico within a tight schedule. The client, which remained unnamed could not risk further delays, putting DHL Global Forwarding under additional pressure.

Leveraging its extensive network, DHL Global Forwarding was able to arrange the delivery, utilising both a breakbulk/geared vessel and a RoRo vessel with short transit times in both directions. What was a week-long journey on scheduled liner service, due to a number of port calla was completed within three days northbound and as a same-day return.

Each thruster had dimensions of 6.40 x 4.20 x 4.35 metres and weighed 50 tons. Each unit safely reached their destination and well within the needed schedule.
