Royal Van der Wees Transporten, based in Dordrecht, completed a challenging project in collaboration with Royal Rotra Group, for Gangway Solutions. The pair were tasked with moving a gangway to a terminal in Rotterdam, allowing Van der Wees to showcase its capabilities in a single project.

It required meticulous planning and execution to ensure that the gangway, along with associated parts, arrived at its destination on time.

The transport experts at Van der Wees Wegtransporten coordinated and managed the transport of the gangway, with unconventional dimensions, from the production location to the transhipment quay in Dordrecht, taking into account factors such as route planning, traffic restrictions and safety measures.

Van der Wees’s logistics team used its expertise while unloading all parts at its multipurpose terminal and stuffing the 40 ft Flatracks and 40 FT open top containers. Naturally, the aim was to use advanced lifting and crane equipment to safely load and unload the gangway, using the correct lifting techniques to prevent damage. Van der Wees enlisted the help of a Maple Group subsidiary, Snoeck Services for the seaworthy lashing of the installation.

Finally, to get the cargo to the right container terminal on time, Van der Wees loaded the cargo on board its pontoon with pushboat combination and delivered it to a container terminal in Rotterdam. The dedicated team of project managers ensured that all aspects of the project were seamlessly coordinated, from planning to final delivery, meeting the specific requirements of Rotra and Gangway Solutions.
