Thecla Bodewes Shipyards has delivered another multipurpose (MPP) dry cargo vessel to the Vertom Group. The yard has officially handed over the 7,280 dwt Vertom Anette at the Harlingen facility.

Vertom Anette is the fifth vessel in a series of 12 for Vertom Group. The LABRAX series features a future-proof diesel-electric propulsion system, which ensures efficient fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

The LABRAX series, with a 118-metre length, 14.30-metre beam and 6.20-metre draft, is custom developed to Vertom’s requirements for providing tailor-made shipping solutions for their clients. The completely box-shaped cargo holds ensure maximum loading flexibility and cargo intake. CFD optimisation of the hull design has been performed for fuel-efficient speed-power performance.

The propulsion system enables the vessel to achieve EEDI numbers which are well below the IMO standards. This modular propulsion concept is designed to be ready for future developments, through the ability to make the vessels’ propulsion methanol-electric or hydrogen-electric and to further reduce carbon emissions. The first vessel of the series, Vertom Patty, was launched in September 2022.
