Seaway Strashnov instals Hollandse Kust Zuid foundations

Seaway7’s heavy-lift crane vessel, the Seaway Strashnov, has completed the installation of all 140 monopile foundations on Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm (OWF).

The Seaway Strashnov, which flies under the flag of Cyprus, measures 183 metres in length and 47 metres in width. Lift heights of about 100 metres for the 5,000-tonne main hook and 130 metres for the 800-tonne auxiliary hook allow the vessel to take on such heavy installations effectively. Indeed, the aforementioned installation took less than 24 hours and was thus completed on Sunday evening.

Seaway 7 will also be installing a 66 kV inter-array cable system. Following this Heerema will install secondary steel for 106 of the 140 foundations. The Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Wind Farms will be operated by the Dutch energy company Vattenfall, in collaboration with BASE and the German multinational, Allianz. HKZ 1&2 and HKZ 3 & 4 are being built by Heerema.
