COSCO Shipping Heavy Transport’s Xin Yao Hua completes maiden voyage

COSCO Shipping Heavy Transport’s Xin Yao Hua, the 80,000 dwt semi-submersible heavy lift vessel has completed its maiden voyage.

COSCO Shipping Heavy transport took delivery of the 255-metre long vessel in January, from the Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI)’s yard in China’s Guangdong province. From there, the vessel took off on its maiden voyage to South Korea and further on to Qatar.

In South Korea, the vessel took onboard Milaha’s floating dock SPP2 and headed to Qatar. On March 6, it floated off the floating dock, completing its maiden voyage.

The floating dock has a total length of 230 meters, a width of 45 meters, and an irregular structural bulge of 1.5 meters on each side. Xin Yao Hua has a 211-metre long and 57 metres wide cargo deck. In order to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the maiden voyage, experienced port captains from CSSC also embarked onboard to guide and coordinate the operation detail with all parties concerned. With the guidance and support from shore side, all crew worked together rigorously and meticulously to ensure a safe and successful maiden voyage.
