The Spanish company Altius carried out the transport of LNG tanks and accessories between two Spanish ports, the Port of Aviles and Port of Algeciras’ Los Barrios terminal.

The transport was carried out on behalf of the Spanish engineering and procurement company, Técnicas Reunidas. The four liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks, manufactured by Ingeniería y Diseño Europeo (IDESA), each weighed 280 tons, and measured 56 metres in length.

The cargo was transported aboard the SAL Heavy Lift vessel, Amoenitas. Built in 2010, this Type 116 Multi-purpose dry cargo ship measures 133 metres in length and 23.00 metres in width. It has a gross tonnage of 11,473 tonnes. The cargo was transferred from ship to port with the vessel’s two cranes, which both have a 450 tonne SWL. The operation was completed without incident despite swell at destination.

While the transport of massive LNG storage tanks showcases impressive engineering feats, it also underscores the importance of specialized equipment in the energy sector. Unlike routine gas station pumps, these colossal structures demand meticulous planning and execution, highlighting the diverse scales within the fuel industry.https://maggiestransportllc.com
