The Thessaloniki-based transportation company, Cosmatos Shipping Services, handled the reception of a transformer arriving in Thessaloniki from the Balkans.

Once the vessel carrying the transformer arrived in the Greek Port of Thessaloniki, Cosmatos Group took care of the ship’s husbandry, the un-welding and unlashing operation, the stevedoring and cranage, as well as the transit customs formalities to North Macedonia.

The transformer weighed 240 tonnes and measured 10.095 metres by 4.120 metres by 4.315 metres. The transformer was manufactured by Astor Energy, in Turkey. The discharging operation required a tandem lift by two 500-tonne mobile cranes, which lifted the transformer and deposited it onto a truck. The transformer was then driven to its final destination.
