The English Peters & May group was chartered by Golden Cargo to transport three catamaran ferry boats from Norway to Greece: the Aero Highspeed 1, 2, and 3.

The Aero Highspeed catamarans were built this year by Brodrene AA in Hyen, Norway. Each Aero Highspeed can carry 150 individuals at a service speed of 32 knots. They measure 36 metres in length and 9.7 metres in width. Each vessel also weighs 82 tonnes and has a gross registered tonnage (GRT) of 346.78 tonnes.

The Aero Highspeed catamarans were purchased by Attica Group, the parent company of Hellenic Seaways in Greece. The vessels will serve as ferry boats in the Saronic Gulf, operating out of the port city of Piraeus southwest of Athens, in Greece.

The single-ship transport of the three catamarans took place aboard the heavy load carrier Rolldock Sky. Built in 2016, this vessel sails under the Dutch flag. It measures 140.67 metres in length and 24.03 metres in width, with a gross tonnage of 12,802 tonnes. Two ferries were carried on the Rolldock Sky’s bridge, and one in the hold. The choice of transporting the three ferries on one ship was made in line with decarbonisation goals.
