Logistics service provider, Trans Global Projects (TGP), has recently been given the task of moving project cargo across Africa. No small feat considering the weight of 402,008 kg and including a 1,750 kilometres cross-continent road journey to boot.

The ten large mining equipment units were first loaded on flat racks for the ocean voyage from Durban to Mombasa port, Kenya, from where they were transported on lowbed trailers through Uganda and onto the mine site in the northeastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

With prior knowledge of the routing from Mombasa port, the TGP team tackled challenges in advance including securing the availability of suitable and sufficient modular lowbed trailers, part-dismantling excavators to meet road and bridge limitations, and obtaining all necessary bond value licenses and traffic permits.

TGP’s in-depth pre-planning resulted in on-time delivery of the ten items.
