Transporting two asphalt plants for Downer from Shanghai to Shepparton TGI Group

TGI Cargo (TGIC) transported two asphalt plants from the Ammann Group factory in Shanghai, China, to Mowbray in Tasmania and Shepperton in Victoria.

The asphalt plants were shipped ex-factory on 11 November 2022, along with 30 containers and approximately 3,500 cubic metres of breakbulk cargo. TGI Cargo was selected by the Swiss Ammann Group for this door-to-door transportation project because they have previously handled the shipment of 11 other of their asphalt plants.

Due to congestion in the Port of Shanghai, the part-chartered Spliethoff vessel called at the Port of Taicang instead. There, the cargo was loaded onto the vessel. TGIC supervised the loading and handled the purchase and lease of containers as well as the packing and tarping. They also secured export clearance and arranged the marine insurance of the cargo.

On arrival in Australia, TGIC completed customs and quarantine clearances and had teams on-site in both Tasmania and Shepparton to supervise discharge and delivery to the sites via truck. Delivery was completed without delay despite challenges in obtaining containers, a tropical storm off the coast of China, and flooding in Victoria, Australia.
