F. H. Bertling Logistics (FHB) transported five OOG silos each weighing 90 tons from Kartepe, Turkey, to the United Kingdom (UK).

The silos, measuring 2.145 cubic metres, were first transported to Derince Port, Turkey, via truck. From there, they were transported to Southampton, in the UK, via the heavy-lift vessel Lenneborg. Built in 2008, the Lennenborg sails under the Dutch flag. Measuring 108.17 metres by 18.21 metres, the vessel has a gross tonnage of 5,598 tonnes.

Upon unloading in Southampton, one silo was directly transported to the project site in Slough, approximately 100 kilometres away. The remaining four silos will be stored in the Port of Southampton. FHB’s scope ranged from pre-carriage transport from the Turkish supplier to the port of loading, port handling, loading and lashing supervision, ocean transport to the port of discharge, and on-carriage transport to the job site.

The transportation of these silos follows the delivery of 40 full truckloads by FHBL from Turkey to the UK in the past weeks. F. H. Bertling Logistics’ Bremen, Istanbul and Aberdeen teams all participate in this project.
